Run As One: Heather Abbott, Survivor
Every April, Heather Abbott and her friends have a tradition to cheer on runners in the Boston Marathon on Boylston Street. When the first bomb exploded last April, Heather remembers feeling as though her foot was on fire and knew immediately that she was severely injured. Although she eventually lost part of her left leg, Heather is determined to never have to say “I can’t do that” because of her leg. Throughout her recovery, she has been inspired by the support of the community, and is proud to be a part of the city’s ever-growing success.
