Oscar Pistorius, the first double amputee to compete against able bodied athletes in the Olympics, failed to make it to the finals. After taking 2nd in his heat, at 44.94 seconds, he placed last in the Men’s 400m semi-final with a time of 46.54.
As the 2012 London Games come to an end, the Summer Olympics torch is extinguished for another four years.
