After leading Day 1, Ireen Wust (NED) won again today in the 1500m and 5000m. Wust has been on the All-Round Championships’ podium since 2007.
Sven Kramer (NED) was a clear favorite to win but was in jeopardy after losing the 1500m to 2nd place Bokko. Kramer was able to keep his composure and go on to win the 10,000m and the title.

Racing in his first championship, Joey Matia (USA) was the top American, finishing with a time of 36.96. Zbigniew Brodka went on to win the event.

Racing bid 38, Thomas Biesemeyer, was looking forward to crossing the finish on his second run, before losing control while speeding through a difficult gate. Top skier Svindal (NOR) and Innerhofer (ITA) did not finish.
It looked like Romed Baumann (AUT) was going to walk away with the 4th spot, until he was able to make up time lost at the bottom of the hill. Baumann earned Austria its first men’s medal at this year’s world championships. His total time was 1:58.
The former SC winner at Kitzbuehel, Ivica Kostelic (CRO), finished with a time of 2:58.11. Kostelic had a little bit of luck on his side as top skiers Svindal (NOR) and Innerhofer (ITA) skied out before they could beat his time.

David Poisson (FRA) picked up his first world championship medal when he finished with a time of 2:02.29. Poisson finished 4th in his previous Downhill at Kitzbuehel.
In Dominik Paris’ first world championship appearance, he took home silver, finishing with a time of 2:01.78. Paris has had two victories this WC season, including a win in the Downhill at Kitzbuehel.

The former overall champ, Nicole Hosp, finished with a time of 2:40.92. A Podium spot in the SC is not new for Hosp, as she also finished 2nd in the SC at St. Moritz in December.
Maria Hoefl-Riesch (GER) became the only skier to win a gold medal in the SC as well as a world title in the SC, when she finished with a time of 2:39.92. Hoefl- Riesch was 4th after the downhill and able to stay ahead of Maze by .46 seconds.
