Position: Production Assitant

Universal Sports Network is accepting resumes for a full time event/studio Production Assistant. Universal Sports is the premier multi-platform media destination for Olympic-related sports programming in the United States.  Offering more than 1,200 hours of original programming each year, Universal Sports has exclusive rights to world and national championship events in a wide array of sports, including swimming, track and field, gymnastics, cycling, skiing, figure skating and rugby.

The Production Assistant position is responsible for assisting the production team with coverage of international sporting events as well as original programming from our Denver, Colorado studios. Production Assistant will work under the direction of various producers and associate producers and will be assigned to a variety of productions including live/taped event integrations, studio news, magazine and packaged shows. This position will report to the Coordinating Producer. Candidate will work in all areas of production and contribute show content ideas, suggestions and support. Must be a self-starter and a team player.   Frequent overnight shifts, early mornings, weekends and holidays are required. May involve limited travel opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides support to Coordinating producer, producers, associate producers and research department on live/taped and studio/event productions
  • Graphics coordination and operation of graphics machine for on-air elements
  • Locates and archives tape and digital materials. Screens, logs and transcribes clips for shows packages and highlights
  • Assists research department for studio and event productions
  • Creates research content such as statistics, biographical and historical for information for use on-air
  • Ingests and disseminates video material for multiple platforms
  • Operates studio teleprompter
  • Works with multiple departments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials
  • Provides ideas and suggestions to help enhance productions
  • Adheres to production department procedures

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Olympic, endurance, and action sports and current athletes

The Associate Producer I position is responsible for assisting the production team with coverage of international sporting events as well as original programming from our Denver, Colorado studios. Responsibilities:

  • Prepare show material for live and edited events, studio shows, and packaged/original programming productions.
  • Use strong editorial judgment to determine the best story lines before and during the assigned production
  • Supervise various live and taped voice over productions
  • Research event, athlete bios and other related information necessary to enhance the productions
  • Produce and direct basic productions with producer supervision and/or guidance
  • Create scripts for selected event and studio productions and prepare necessary documentation for on-air productions
  • Work with editors to create compelling show elements within show guidelines including high-end teases, in-show packages, sport analysis and bumps
  • Organize taped elements for live productions and work with EVS operators to execute producer’s show vision
  • Locate and utilize archived material from music and video library
  • Assist with ENG shoots or remote productions when necessary including shooting video, managing and acting as on-site liaison
  • Logging of events may be necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Radio/TV/Film, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2-5 years working in live studio/remote control room sports productions or equivalent
  • Understanding of control room, technical and operational procedures
  • Strong knowledge of sports; Olympic and endurance sports preferred
  • Advanced written and verbal skills (emphasis on writing for broadcast)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary
  • Intermediate knowledge of editing teases, packages and features
  • Hands on experience or strong familiarity with editing software including Avid, Final Cut Pro, After Effects. Chyron Duet and LyricPro knowledge is a plus

Responsibilities: 

  • The position requires strong technical and organizational skills, and a passion for implementing new technology in a rapidly evolving media universe.
  • Leads product process between design, developers, and editorial departments and vendors. Manages site-wide projects – web, mobile, TV Everywhere.
  • Manages day-to-day responsibility of product operation and coordination of product maintenance and support – external developers, content publishing platform, 3rd party video platform; ad serving.

Qualifications:

  • Must have previous digital product experience with high-traffic, consumer-facing products, including web and mobile. Tangible experience in creating a product vision, defining a strong functional specification, and then bringing that product to market.
  • A minimum of 6 years of web/digital development experience on customer web/digital products; minimum of 2 years of experience managing a staff and development vendors.
  • Expertise with mobile application development (specifically iOS and Android; handset and tablet) and familiarity with intricacies of different platforms and devices.
  • Understanding of the technical architecture of complex media products.
  • Must have demonstrated experience designing simple and intuitive user interfaces.
  • Proven ability to work on a diverse scope of projects requiring detailed analysis, creative/practical problem solving, and sound judgment. Experience managing multiple projects comprising short and long development cycles without supervision.

Position: Writer / Producer

Position Overview:
The Writer / Producer is responsible for coming up with original concepts and designs, and hands on writing and producing of commercial spots that promote events on Universal Sports Network. He or she, works very closely with the Director of Marketing and On Air Promos. He or she, will work with a group of creative collaborators typically comprised of an editor, a sound mixer, and Graphic Artists.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing / On Air Promos, Editors, Designers and network colleagues to build and maintain a highly functional creative department.
  • Concept, develop and produce breakthrough creative promos, advertising and promotional content.
  • Work closely with On Air Design department to convey graphics needs for projects.
  • Manage multiple creative assignments in a hands on fashion at all stages of development, from project start through post.
  • Research new promo techniques, new and current standards in music, editorial, storytelling, graphic design and marketing.
  • Create creative pitch decks, boards and reference frames.
  • Screen and log show content.

Qualifications:

UNIVERSAL SPORTS NETWORK is currently looking for a Freelance On Air Promotions AVID Editor for their Denver Office. This person should have a flair for sports television storytelling. They must me capable of creating 30 second promos with different versions of each spot. (30’s, 20’s 10’s) Editors should also be capable of editing short teases as well as long format shows. They must be able to work in a Post Production environment with tight deadlines and maintain high quality. These Editors must be team players and be able to work well in a Producer/Editor atmosphere. They also need to be very creative and have a strong technical background.

• AVID HD Editing using Interplay Software with ISIS storage.
• Color correction experience with AVID Color Correction Tool
