How do I watch the 2014 Boston Marathon?
If your television provider is Cox, DirecTV, Dish Network, Time Warner Cable, Verizon FIOS, Bend Broadband, Brighthouse, GCI, or Astound / Wave Broadband, you will be able to view the Boston Marathon on television as part of a free preview of Universal Sports Network. (Universal Sports is not currently available on AT&T U-verse, Comcast, Charter, and Cablevision.) Visit our channel finder to learn how to tune into Universal Sports.
Due to technical considerations, access to the USN’s live or VOD online streams of the Boston Marathon is limited to authenticated subscribers of Universal Sports via their television providers. For more information on the Boston Marathon go to www.baa.org.
Why has Universal Sports Network made the transition from free over-the-air “multicast” service to cable, satellite and telco TV providers on a subscription basis?
Universal Sports Network had been offered as a free over-the-air “multicast” service that was distributed as a digital sub-channel of local stations in markets around the country since 2008. Sports content is expensive and in order to sustain our network long term, it is imperative that we switch to the business model of a cable, satellite and telco offering so we can continue to provide the world class programming our fans have been accustomed to.
Where can I find Universal Sports Network?
Universal Sports Network is currently only available on DIRECTV, DISH and several additional providers. We are presently in advanced negotiations with many other cable, satellite and telco television providers throughout the country and expect to confirm additional distribution soon. We will continue to provide the most current distribution information on our website, http://www.IWantUniversalSports.com, and on our Facebook page.

I have access to NBC Sports Network. Isn’t that the same thing as Universal Sports?
NBC Sports Network is not the same as Universal Sports Network. Rather, NBC Sports Network was previously called Versus and was recently rebranded as NBC Sports Network. To have access to Olympic-related programming such as Alpine World Cup Skiing, cycling, Rugby 7’s and many other sports, you should call 1-800-55-GET-US and go to http://www.IWantUniversalSports.com to demand access to Universal Sports Network from your television provider.
Will I still have access to sporting events online at UniversalSports.com?
Viewers who have access to Universal Sports through their television provider will be able to view the events online, in addition to TV, upon entering their TV subscriber information (credentials).
Where is my UniversalSports.com content “library”?
If you were a premium subscriber for any event packages prior to April 1, 2012, your video “library” and its archived contents are no longer available. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we hope you will enjoy our new site and its higher-quality video experience — including the ability to watch highlights on your mobile devices. Going forward, you can identify paid/premium video content with a “lock” icon; once you have purchased access to that related content, the “lock” icon will be removed. This will help to confirm your purchase. Secondarily, we will also be providing full replays for events going forward just as we have in the past; you will be able to find those by navigating through the OUR SPORTS button in the site navigation to the sport your event is related to, and/or through the SEARCH bar above. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to use the CUSTOMER SERVICE link in the footer at the bottom of the site to register your comment/feedback.
