American Tatyana McFadden won the women’s wheelchair race to add to the Boston Marathon title she won on Monday and Australia’s Kurt Fearnley took victory in the men’s race to end Briton David Weir’s hopes of a record seventh title.

2013 London Marathon: Wheelchair crash

Just as the wheelchair racers caught up with the women’s race, they entered a water zone and Joss Cassidy crashed into Tiki Gelana, taking him out of the race, while she was able to continue.

Japan’s Hiroyuki Yamamoto was the first winner of the day, cruising to victory in the men’s wheelchair race by 39 seconds over nine-time champion Ernst Van Dyk of South Africa.

Frenchman Denis Lemeunier finished with a winning time of 1:25:06, taking the title away from reigning champ Julian Casoli. Lemeunier had finish 3rd in the previous two marathons.
