The 16 year old phenom Mary Cain finished with a time of 5:05.68, winning the race by nearly a second. Cain waited until the last 200m to pull away from the pack and easily take this race.
Ebonie Floyd talks about getting the win today after race favorite Mary Wineberg took a hard fall.
Mary Wineberg came into this race as one of the clear favorites but tripped and fell after her shoe collided with winner Ebonie Floyd. Floyd finished with a time of 52.02.

American Jenn Suhr cleared a mark of 16 feet 5 1/2 inches, breaking the record previously held by Yelena Isinbayeva. This is the first time an American has held the record since 2003.
