For tenth time in history, the FIS World Cup sprint competition will take place around the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
From start to finish World Cup winner Justyna Kowalczyk (POL) held off the Norwegians for the win by .90 seconds. Sprint World Cup winner Kikkan Randall (USA) finished 5th.
The course starts at the Market place, City center of Drammen. It rises up the lawns around the Bragernes Cathedral, descends between the historic City Hall and the old Fire Station, through the Market place, around the fountain and statue commemorating Saint Hallvard, where it climbs to the finish line in front of the Cathedral stairway.
Rebecca James (GBR) took Bronze in the Time Trial and Bronze in the Team Sprint, but it’s Gold in the Individual Sprints, over Kristina Vogel (GER) who won gold in the Team.
Racing bid number 2, Kikkan Randall (USA) finished with a time of 2:44.03, beating 2nd place Aurore Jean (FRA) by .52. Randall has been on the podium 3 times in her previous 3 sprint events.
