U.S. beach volleyball teams swept the gold medals at the ASICS World Series of Beach Volleyball on Sunday in Long Beach, CA. It was the only stop of the 2014 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour in the United States.
Women: April Ross and Kerri Walsh Jennings
Top-seeded April Ross and Kerri Walsh Jennings won their fourth FIVB gold medal of the season by defeating Brazil’s Agatha Bednarczuk and Barbara Seixas (21-17, 21-17).
“I’m so proud of how we played together,” Ross said. “That was the epitome of teamwork in my mind.”
Many of the fans in the backed stadium wore red, white and blue. Some even waved oversized cardboard cutouts of the two American beach volleyball stars.
“The crowd was our third man out there,” Walsh Jennings said.
Ross and Walsh Jennings received surfboards to go along with their gold medals, and celebrated by taking a champagne shower.
Men: Phil Dalhausser and Sean Rosenthal
Phil Dalhausser and Sean Rosenthal outlasted Poland’s Grzegorz Fijalek and Mariusz Prudel to win their third FIVB gold medal of the season. It was a rematch of last weekend’s final at The Hague Grand Slam, which was won by the Polish team.
“We really wanted this one bad on our home turf,” Dalhausser said, “so it feels that much better.”
Todd Rogers, who won an Olympic gold medal with Dalhausser in 2008, took home the broze medal with his new teammate, Theo Brunner. It was Brunner’s first FIVB medal.

Bode Miller, one of the most successful alpine skiers in American history, played in the celebrity beach volleyball match. Miller’s wife, Morgan Beck Miller, is a professional beach volleyball players.
