Olympic figure skater Carolina Kostner will sit out for the entire 2014-15 competitive figure skating season, according to posts on her social media accounts. Kostner won a bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. The 27-year-old Italian also won a bronze medal at the World Championships this March, which was her sixth career medal at the competition.

Several female figure skatings have stated their plans to take a break from figure skating, including World champion Mao Asada and two-time U.S. bronze medalist Agnes Zawadzki. Sochi silver medalist Yuna Kim announced her retirement.

The 2015 World Championships will be in Shaghai this upcoming March on Universal Sports Network.
