Maya Angelou Wrote Poem For 2008 Olympics

American author and poet Maya Angelou, best known for her groundbreaking autobiography “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” passed away Wednesday at the age of 86.

Prior to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, she wrote a poem titled “Amazement Awaits” that encompassed the values of the Olympic movement:
