2014 Boston Marathon on USN TV Facts

LOS ANGELES (April 10, 2014) – Universal Sports Network, the exclusive national television and digital media home of the Boston Marathon, will provide LIVE television and online coverage of the 118th Boston Marathon on “Marathon Monday,” April 21, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET.
In addition to the highly anticipated race, Universal Sports will air a special preview show from the finish line on Boylston Street featuring analysis of the elite field and interviews with participants on Saturday, April 19, at 4 p.m. ET.
Calling the elite race for the U.S. broadcast on Universal Sports are veterans Al Trautwig and Larry Rawson. Rounding out the network’s broadcast team for all pre- and post-race coverage and shows are marathon legend Frank Shorter, ultra-marathoner Josh Cox and 1996 Olympian Juli Benson along with host Paul Sunderland. Reporters Nick Gismondi and Craig Hummer also will be a part of the race day coverage conducting interviews from the start and finish line. Additionally, Boston native and reality TV personality Ethan Zohn will be providing updates to the network’s social media channels.
PRODUCTION HIGHLIGHTS: The broadcast will be shown in 175 countries and territories around the world including the Armed Forces Network. There will be a total of 30 cameras, three mobile units, one airplane, two trucks, two motorcycles and 170 production crew utilized to cover the elite competition for both Universal Sports and the world feed commentary.
FINISH LINE WEB CAM: UniversalSports.com will feature a “finish line web cam” that will allow runners, supporters, friends and family to watch runners cross the finish line. The finish line web cam will be available to everyone live on race day beginning at 10:30 a.m. ET. After April 21, runners can access the video on demand and search their finish line time to relive their marathon finish.
BOSTON TRIBUTE: The Boston Tribute event will honor those affected by last year’s events, including those who lost their lives, survivors and first responders. Universal Sports will live stream the event in its entirety, and then air a one-hour program at 6 p.m. ET encapsulating the day’s tribute followed by a never-before-seen re-air of the 2013 race.
ADDITIONAL PROGRAMMING: In addition to live coverage of Tuesday’s Boston Tribute and the 2014 Boston Marathon, Universal Sports is currently airing the 15-episode “Run as One” series both on air and online at universalsports.com. Those featured include Red Sox player David Ortiz, Former NFL player Joe Andruzzi, Boston Marathon Race Director David McGillivray, Rick and Dick Hoyt and survivors Heather Abbott, Marc Fucarile and Nicole Gross.
