Michael Phelps could swim in a competitive meet “sometime soon,” his longtime coach, Bob Bowman, recently told the Chicago Tribune.

“He looks like he is definitely in shape,” Bowman said.

Phelps retired after the London Olympics as the most decorated Olympian ever with 22 medals, including 18 golds.

Last year he re-entered the drug-testing pool to become eligible for a possible return to swimming competition. Since then, he has been working out at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club.

Phelps could make his return at one of USA Swimming’s upcoming Arena Grand Prix Series meets, which can be seen on Universal Sports. Click HERE for the complete Arena Grand Prix schedule.
