Mo Farah announced he will race in a half-marathon in New York City as he gets ready for his marathon debut.
Farah will run in the NYC Half on March 16. He won the race in 2011.
“I have been training hard in Kenya and hope to use the New York race to gauge my fitness one month out from my 26.2 mile debut,” Farah told the Associated Press.
Farah was a double gold medalist at the 2012 London Olympic Games, winning both the 5000m and 10,000m races. He also won both of those events at the 2013 IAAF World Championships in Moscow, becoming only the second man in history to hold all four global distance titles simultaneously.
You can watch Farah race 26.2 miles for the first time at the London Marathon on April 13 on Universal Sports.
Universal Sports is also the exclusive television home of the 118th Boston Marathon on April 21.
