The critics and skeptics were all put to rest in 9.63 seconds as Usain Bolt broke the 100m Olympic record at the London Olympics. Bolt sprinted away in the second half of the race to win his second-consecutive 100m gold. As an encore, Bolt followed up his 100m victory by winning the 200m in 19.32, duplicating his two gold medals from the Beijing games and becoming the first man to achieve two gold medals in the 200m. The London games also allowed Bolt to join Carl Lewis as the only other Olympian with back-to-back 100m golds and cemented his place as the fastest man on the planet.

“Everyone came to London to see Bolt and he was sure not to disappoint. He basically blew away the competition in both races. In his own words, Bolt is now a ‘living legend’ and I don’t know too many people who will disagree.”
