The Audi FIS Ski World Cup slalom opening in Levi (FIN) has been confirmed. FIS Race Director Hans Pieren conducted the official snow control at Levi on Tuesday morning and was impressed.
”I am positively surprised what the snow-making facilities and the Organizing Committee have been able to achieve during the last few days. The competition slope is in great shape. This is why I can already now give the go ahead for the event, two days before the planned snow control day, ” said Piere.
In addition to Pieren, a course preparation team from Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee is on site at Levi to learn more about snow-making and slope preparation working together and shadowing the experienced staff at Levi.
”At Levi everything is very well organized, as always. The ten-day weather forecast is also looking promising at the moment so we look forward to a great weekend of racing here at Levi,” concluded Pieren.
In the next days, the Levi Black will be injected to ensure fair and equal conditions for all reaces. With injection, the weight of the snow will be increased from 400 g to 800 g per liter.
The Levi Ski Resort is also now open for public skiing. The front slope of the resort opened last Friday. The Cross-Country Skiing trails already opened early last week. The conditions are good and it is snowing. ”It looks like we will have a white event weekend all around Levi. Nature has taken care of us having winter everywhere,” said Levi Ski Resort managing director Jouni Palosaari.
